MINE EXPLORATION
Mineral deposits are rocks that have formed as a result of geological processes and contain exceptional amounts of certain elements. They can be classified into Metallic Minerals, Industrial Minerals, and Energy Minerals.
When planning mineral exploration, the characteristics of the host rocks should be taken into account. Processes such as magmatism, surface alteration or weathering, sedimentation, and metamorphism can contribute to ore formation. Parameters such as the synchronicity of formation with the host rock, the type and shape of the deposit, associated elements and alterations, and the age of formation, all impact the exploration program and consequently the costs involved, depending on the specific mineral being sought.
